Helping each other get through it, a few thoughts on Faith Kipyegon's sub-4 attempt, how to pay attention in a world of digital distractions, and a lot more.
Loved your thoughts here.... and especially that Bourdain quote... how I've tried to live my life! I'm also about to have my first crew/guiding experience at Vermont 100, and loved reading your crewing thoughts here!
Awesome on all of that Ali! Enjoy crewing at the VT 100. In my experience few things bond people together quite like spending a weekend crewing for someone you all care about.
I love the thoughts about focus. We are soooo strapped these days for the skill. I find myself ebbing and flowing constantly, my brain trying to grasp at distractions. Resisting this temptation is key, as you pointed out. Focus is the new currency of 2025 and onward. I can't wait for next Tuesday! Take care, Mario!
You’re welcome Tyler. Agree 100% RE: focus. One approach that’s helped me (and, admittedly, taken time to hone) is becoming a mono-tasker. I do my best to try and focus on one thing at a time so I can give it my complete attention. I’m not always successful but like anything else, if you keep working at it, you can/will improve.
I love the Bourdain quote at the end.
He’s got a lot of good ones and this one might be my fave.

Thanks, as always, for the great writing!
